Long old week & exciting stickers

It’s been one of those funny weeks.  The weather is changing, I’m not feeling quite myself. I’m glad the weekend has come.  On the schedule for tomorrow – auction visit.  I’m pretty excited – at the preview tonight I spotted something with this sticker on it.

Fingers crossed!

NFL Season finally gets going

I am about to follow a post about thousand dollar wedding shoes with a post about American Football.  The creative freedom is almost unbearable.

After a tedious pre-season, the actual NFL season is starting tonight. Hoorah!  Sunday nights are back to what they should be.

In the UK we have a very limited TV schedule of the games, and only get to see what is deemed an ‘interesting’ game by Sky. But we won’t complain too much.  Tonight season opener Vikings @ Saints should be a good one!  Due to the whole unfortunate time difference thing, we won’t be watching it until tomorrow night.  I’m looking forward to a Friday night of Hot Dogs, Cupcakes and Beer. Welcome back Football!

Wedding Shoe P*rn

A very dear friend of mine is getting married next year.  Today she received her custom designed engagement bling. It’s stunning! She’s a glamorous girl, so in her honour, here’s a round up of some serious wedding shoes:

Enzo Angiolini 'Sully' Platform Pump (Nordstrom Exclusive)

I’m serious. Who wouldn’t want Disco feet at their wedding! And  after few glasses of champagne I’m sure it would be fantastic to hear the bride trying to say ‘My shoes are by Enzo Angiolini’.  Sulky Platform Pump, Image via Nordstrom.

Badgley Mischka 'Randi' Sandal

As you can probably imagine, I could go on for a while.  Perhaps a topic to be revisited!

Antique Typography Posters

Look what I found on our little holiday to West Wales.

These stunning posters are all between 86 and 102 years old, and are absolutely stunning. They were all printed in Cardigan in West Wales.

A selection Now for sale in my little Etsy shop (dusted off after long neglect).

Visit my Etsy Shop to see a selection of the posters.  There will be more posters to follow over the next few days.

Another Landing Strip Soliloquy

So we still don’t have a piece of furniture that will deal with shoes, handbags, keys, mail and other assorted bits and pieces.  I have been searching for a while, .  You may remember me rambling about this topic before here and here. The best I have found so far:

Scott Dorrance via Desire to Inspire.

The shape and weight of this piece is great, however the material and the colour are wrong for our space. This piece of furniture is going to be in our dining room (adjacent to hallway).  The dinins room has a teak dining table and chairs, 7ft teak sideboard, and a few Billy bookcases.  Ergo – no more teak or Ikea.  I have now decided that I will probably have a piece of furniture made.  That way, I get exactly the right size and shape! It’s hopefully going to look something like this:

Now I need some old floorboards, and a carpenter. To be continued.

Hallway colour preview

I’ve been painting my socks off.  There were some moments where I worried about the colour choice, but Grecian Spa 2 has won me over.

wall

Hoorah – the orange woodwork is no more.

Still on the hallway t-do list: buy more paint, gloss the woodwork, choose light fitting, decide what to do with the floor, choose art for walls.

Front Door II

Good news:

Many lovely doors available on ebay at reasonable prices.

door Currently £4.99! Would need some cleaning up – but would let lovely light into the hallway with all those glass panes.

I love this following one.  I think it would fit in well enough with the age of the house, but also with all the stuff inside. Currently £0.01! door2

Bad news:

It’s quite tricky to replace a door.  I watched a helpful YouTube video, and was pretty confident until he said ‘adjust your circular saw blade so as to only cut through the frame’.  You what? I think this is a ‘pay-someone-experienced-to-take-care-of-it’ situation.

Guilty Pleasures

I do love watching the X-factor on a Saturday night.  Once the live shows start it gets tedious, but some of the auditions make great entertainment.  Did anyone see a nervous young lady called Cher singing Keri Hilson’s version of ‘Turn My Swag On’?  The original version of the song makes me cringe, but this is pretty awesome.  Oh to be 16 again!
