If you had a small windfall...

...what would you spend it on? My brother has decided to spend a portion of his on a piece of Art for his walls. I've (vigorously) pointed him in direction of Folksy and Etsy, and he seems pretty impressed with the selection. To help him pick something, I though I'd post a little round up here.

Selecting Art for someone else is difficult, as everyone has a different visual aesthetic. Nevertheless I'll do my best to select something suitable for a 22 year old, cheeky electrician who likes beer, poker and books, and perhaps inspire him to hunt down a piece he loves. (Hence the variety of styles here)

M&S Rug

This rug is available at Marks & Spencers, and costs £49 - £159 (As featured in this month's Livingetc). I love Zig Zag patterns, and would love to see this in a styled interior. It's also available in a blue/dark blue colour. And if you're going to have a Zig Zag rug, you might as well go the whole hog and get these:

Arrowhead Pillow £25.00 (I love this one! It's got an Ikat feel about it)

Zig Zag Pillow £25.00

Zig Zag Throw £45.00

All images from M&S.

Illustration Friday - Pale

My contribution to this weeks Illustration Friday topic: Pale.
Half way through putting this together I nearly decided to draw it by hand instead. Perhaps I will anyway, and then mount the clouds on some watercoloured paper.

Valentines Cards!

I really like Valentines Day, commercial or not, I think it's lovely to have a designated day to be schmulzy and cutsy with your loved one.

I've been block printing some lino cards which I will be putting up for Sale in the next few days. In the meantime here's a little round up of my favourite Valentines Cards available on Etsy & Folksy. (If you're planning to order one from across the pond, it's probably better to do it sooner rather than later. I don't trust the post!). Here goes:

Space Invaders Letterpress Card (Text inside reads 'you can invade my space anytime' - Love it!) by anemoneletterpress on Etsy.

More Vase Love

So after the soul destroying disappointment of not winning that ebay auction yesterday (see previous post), I found a little blue cased glass vase in a charity shop today, which i brought home with me, and introduced him to his new friends, orange vase, and green vase. Here they are frolicking on the sideboard.

I'm not sure where any of these vases originate from. They are all cased glass, and from somewhere between the 50's and 70's, and either Italian, Austrian or Swedish (I think). I'm pretty sure they aren't Holmegaard. If anyone could clarify their origin a little I'd be really grateful.

You may be at this point concerned that this blog is turning into a 'Vase Appreciation Monologue'. Don't be too worried, it is but a momentary obsession. It will pass. I hope.

Zebrette Vase

Look what I didn't win on ebay today. I'm heartbroken. It was supposed to go with this vase, which I bought at auction before Christmas (and which I blogged about here, it was a thrilling day. Honest).
